Commencement of urbanisation works on the right bank of Deusto canal

The urbanization works included in Phase A of Zorrotzaurre Integrated Action 1 Execution Unit 1, corresponding to the right bank of Deusto canal,are now under way.

These works will give rise to a continuous pedestrian walkway measuring two kilometres along the bank of the Deusto canal, which will run from Elorrieta island to calle Ballets Olaeta street, where urbanization works have just concluded. The walkway will range from ten to twenty meres in width, depending on the area and the route will include seating areas, viewing spots, gardens, tree groves and a climbing wall.Furthermore, there will be a 6,000 sq. m.square between the Idom building and the new rowing pavilion, which will include a children’s playground and three covered spaces.

The total works budget comes to some €14 million (incl. VAT).

The works are expected to last 14 months and should be concluded in October next year. Construction of the Plaza de San Ignacio (San Ignacio Square), however, work on which are expected to last 4 months, can only begin once San Ignacio Bridge (being built by Visesa) is finished.

The works will be undertaken by the temporary joint venture (UTE, after its initials in Spanish) formed by Viuda de Sainz S.A., Lurgoien S.A., Jaureguizar Promoción and Gestión Inmobiliaria S.L. which was awarded the contract put out to tender by the Zorrotzaurre Contract Award Board.

Works management went to the UTE formed by Saitec S.A.and González Cavia y Cabrera Arquitectura, Urbanismo y Paisaje S.L.
